Today is the first day of . The celebration begins on Dec 26 and ends on Jan 1.

Kwanzaa is a celebration of African-American culture that was inspired by various traditions in western and southern African countries. The holiday was created in 1966 by Dr. Maluana Karenga.

There are seven principles of Kwanzaa and each day is dedicated to these principles: 👏🏾umoja (unity)
👍🏾kujichagulia (self determination)
💪🏾ujima (collective work and responsibility)
💲ujamaa (cooperative economics)
⭐️nia (purpose)
👩🏾‍🎨kuumba (creativity)
📿 Imani (faith).

Each day, a candle is light on the Kinara (candle holder similar to a menorah) to highlight and focus on the above principles.

Happy Kwanzaa from our family!

When I was in college, a friend of mine would never let me leave for class without earrings. She insisted and insisted that I wear earrings and I would fight her on it. 🙄🙄My ears were pierced against my will (✨think The Parent Trap but African. And I had to get them done 2x✨) and therefore I never cared to wear them. I need expensive diamond or gold hoops earrings (as a tomboy), they knew that there was no point because I would either lose them or I would just refuse to wear them. Sometimes, just to make my friend happy and to get her off my back, I would wear earrings but I took them off as soon as I came back from class. There were even times where she would lend me a pair of her own earrings because she just knew that there was no way I was going to wear earrings.

🤔But over the years, I have started getting more into earrings. I believe in gold hoop earrings and African print cloth earrings supremacy!

Our Netsai earrings are perfect for earring converters like myself who love how bold they look as well as for those friends and family members who insist that you wear earrings before leaving the house! The earrings are large, hard to miss and are perfect for a last minute accessory.

Coming soon to the website!

🤔Are your or your child’s ears pierced?

👍🏾Double tap if you have friends/family members that insist you wear earrings or else!
