You’re scrolling Memorial Day posts…
and someone else is praying they survive long enough to enjoy another summer.
Days like today always carry a little extra perspective about sacrifice, gratitude, and the fragility of life.
I came across the story of 28-year-old Jasmine Jones at the University of Chicago Medicine whose body started failing her one organ at a time.
Cystic fibrosis.
Diabetes.
Liver failure.
Kidney failure.
Failing lungs.
She ultimately underwent a rare quadruple transplant:
lungs, liver, kidney, and pancreas —
all from the same donor.
But honestly?
The part that hit me hardest wasn’t even the surgery.
It was when she said everybody around her understood how serious things were…
but she just felt numb.
And if you’ve ever lived in survival mode long enough…
you probably understand exactly what she meant.
