It looks like a science-fiction prop—but this is how electronics once counted.

Before microchips took over, tubes like this 1959 Dekatron counted electrical pulses one glowing step at a time. This unused example still has its original box and period paperwork, and I’ve just listed it for the next collector who appreciates how remarkable early technology really was.

From glowing counting tubes to smartphones and AI in one lifetime. That is quite a leap.

A piece of early radio history is now available.

This new-old-stock Silvertone UX-201-A / 201A / 01A globe tube comes in its original vintage Sears Silvertone box and tested exceptionally strong on my rebuilt and calibrated Triplett 3444—approximately 1,000 µmhos, compared with a published average of 730 µmhos.

No shorts, leakage, intermittent behavior, noise, or microphonics were detected during testing. The listing includes detailed photographs, full condition disclosure, and a printed VTubeAudio test card.

Something a little different from the usual audio tubes today—a genuine piece of vintage scientific technology.

This RCA JAN-1P21 photomultiplier tube was manufactured during the 43rd week of 1968 and remains in its original military box, packed in October 1968. It is NOS, functionally verified, and remarkably well preserved.

The 1P21 was designed to detect and amplify extremely low levels of light in equipment such as photometers, spectrometers and radiation-detection instruments. The original box shows its age, but that matching 1968 tube-and-box provenance makes this one especially interesting.
