This is Dylan. We call him Pickles. Do you see how his left eye is smaller/droopier than his right? He was born with congenital Ptosis which is, essentially, droopy eyelid because his DNA told the “building” process to make part of his eyelid with fat instead of muscle. Depending on severity, it could significantly impact vision for those born with it.
This was the impetus for Harlow + Cruz 🌈 as we went down a rabbit hole sensory play, development research.
Pickles was born with a pretty moderate case which has cause slight astigmatism (but not enough for glasses or additional concern). We introduced our triangle and products to him around 5 months and by 7 months, we took him to the pediatric ophthalmologist who noticed his eyes were becoming more symmetrical. While the eyelid itself will never get stronger, the doctors exact explanation was “Dylan’s facial muscles are getting so strong, they’re lifting the eyelid for him. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up.”
At 12 months, his eyes 👁 are nearly symmetrical and, most importantly, the eyelid doesn’t cover any of the pupil so vision concerns are minimal. Swipe to see him now 👉🏼
The benefits of these toys both physical, neurological and mental are amazing! Regardless of whether you order from us or are just checking things out, we wanted to share our story, where this came from ...and where it’s going!
