Join me for a FREE beading workshop this Sunday, April 7th at the Rochester Art Center from noon to 3pm! You will learn how to sew in pe**te stitch style around a small rock and walk away with a completed or nearly completed beaded rock of your very own. I'm making some components for you to use and will also have 7 assistants that can guild you too. I am hoping for 40 participants but would prefer 64 people show up to learn how to bead and think about art. Last I heard, there were only 6 people. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE ... as it might be the last time I teach. My own work is evolving and calling me to stay in my own studio and just quietly buckle down and work. It is up to all of you if I teach again or not.
You might ask yourself, what am I gonna do with a beaded stone? Only you have the answer to that. I'm only saying you might be surprised by how powerful it is to be a maker.
Please sign up in advance through the Rochester Art Center. Email them, call them, stop by in person. Deadline to sign up is Saturday, April 6th at 4pm. I need to know in advance how many are coming so I can prepared kits for all of you. The kits are free because of the Minnesota State Arts Board Grant. They will include a rock, beading needles already threaded, extra silamide (the thread I prefer), some seed beads, and a couple of beaded components. I will not be bringing extra for walk-ins, because I don't have endless time and money, but if you commit - then so will I. This class is limited to 100 participants from ages 11 and onward ... and no experience is necessary. Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday at the beautiful Rochester Art Center! Love, Chris.
