A quick trip to New Smyrna and a big full-circle moment — sharing the mural I painted in 2019 with Edie for the first time!

One day, I can’t wait to tell her all about the cutest retail and coffee shop that her mama and Auntie Alonda had.

Rain, rain go away! But we’ll do some painting anyway!

I couldn’t help but be inspired after leaving the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center yesterday. Looking at the collection currently on display, had me reminiscing on my undergraduate days in the Flagler College Art Department. I left the museum longing for those carefree days and most of all, the freedom to explore and experiment artistically.

I drove straight to Asheville Art Supply to pick up some paint and a board to work on a project I have been dying to start (but was honestly TERRIFIED of the mess that it could lead to!). Ever since Edie was born, I’ve envisioned doing a collaborate art project with her every year.

I don’t know exactly what that means but in the spirit of Black Mountain College, who cares and we’ll see! So far I’ve just let her take control. She picks her paint brushes and her colors and I just sit back and take pictures and make sure she doesn’t eat the paint! I have a feeling she’ll tell me when she’s finished. Maybe I’ll add to it or maybe it will be perfect just the way it is!

I’ve been in a creative block lately and just watching her carefree approach to applying the paint, I can feel myself relax a little. Making art is a gift. It is beautiful. And Edie reminds me, it is FUN!

I made an Asheville sticker, and it feels like the beginning of something.

Jelly Press started in Florida nine years ago, inspired by the springs, state parks, beaches, backroads, and hidden little corners that made the Sunshine State feel like home.

Florida will always be home too. It’s where everything began and where half of our family lives. So plenty more Florida adventures ahead! But I really look forward to sharing our mountain adventures here too.

Life has grown in new directions. We moved to Asheville almost a year ago and I’m learning this mountain town slowly — through (VERY) short trails, little outings, local landmarks, changing seasons, and tiny adventures with my 20-month-old explorer in tow.

Adventure looks different these days. There are more snacks, shorter walks, slower mornings, and a lot more stopping to pick up every leaf and rock (finally out of the putting in our mouth phase!).

But the heart of Jelly Press is still the same: celebrating the places that stay with us.

Now I get to find and establish new nostalgic places for my daughter, introducing her to hidden corners, local adventures, and little everyday spots that may someday become part of her own map of memories.

Here’s to Asheville, to continuing on this messy and beautiful journey we call life, and to finding beauty at toddler pace.

You can shop the Asheville sticker now on my website and Etsy store!

What are some of your ‘must visits’ in Western North Carolina?

Lightning bugs or fireflies? ✨

There is something so magical about summer when you are a kid.

The sun would finally dip below the trees, the air would buzz with cicadas, and someone would inevitably say, “The lightning bugs are out.” Then you’d spend the next hour running barefoot through the yard, cupping tiny flashes of light in your hands before letting them go.

Or maybe you called them fireflies.

Whatever name they had where you grew up, they meant the same thing: summer was here.

I created my new glow-in-the-dark “Let It Glow” sticker as a little love letter to those evenings. To porch swings, camping trips, catching lightning bugs in a mason jar (before setting them free), and staying outside until your parents called you in. It’s a reminder that some of life’s most magical moments aren’t the big ones—they’re the ones that happen in your own backyard.

Just like the real thing, this waterproof vinyl sticker glows after charging in the light. ✨

💛 So tell me…
Did you grow up calling them lightning bugs or fireflies?

Where are my Florida history loving explorers?! 🙋

In celebration of the very first anniversary of the reconstructed 1738 fort at Fort Mose Historic State Park, I bring you the Fort Mose HSP sticker! Now available on my website, Etsy store as well as through a donation through the Florida State Park Foundation!

Tucked away just 3 miles north of the heart of historic downtown St. Augustine, you will find an absolute treasure trove of history! Fort Mose Historic State Park was the very first African settlement site that offered freedom dating back to 1738; many decades before the Underground Railroad is thought to have been started. Florida was under Spanish rule at the time and it was Spain’s intent to undermine the British economy and increase Spain’s population and militia. In 1763, the residents of Fort Mose fled to Cuba, fearing their freedom with Florida now being under British rule.

Today, experience living history through live reenactments and even walk in history’s footsteps in the 1738 replica fort that once stood at Fort Mose.

Florida, Florida, Florida!
There is absolutely no denying that there are endless adventures to be had from corner to corner of the Sunshine State. This illustration is my personal little love letter to somewhere very special that I spent so much of my life. Snorkeling in the Keys and Biscayne Bay; sailing through the dark blue Atlantic waters with my family; air boating on Okeechobee with friends; swimming with the manatees summer after summer in Homosassa; living in downtown Orlando and walking around Lake Eola; picking oranges during citrus season; always keeping an eye out for one of my favorite birds: the roseate spoonbill (or what I lovingly refer to as ‘Rosie’s’); and of course, ALL of my incredible memories in St. Augustine: going to college, meeting - getting engaged - and marrying my husband in the Oldest City! I love you Florida, from ‘Coast to Coast’!

‘Florida: Coast to Coast’ now available as 11”x17” art print, postcard, and OF COURSE sticker! Available now on my website (www.jellypressco.com) and Etsy shop (JellyPressStore).

First 25 prints off the printer will be signed and numbered by yours truly 😊
