Dearest Treasure Hunters,
So, a lot of you have messaged me asking questions, and I want to post them here because they are all wonderful questions. They deserve an answer, and maybe someone else has the same question. This is long, but worth the read.
Q: What do you do with junk journals?
A: The short answer is - anything you want! But, for posterity, I'll give a little list of what I've seen them used for:
- Conversation piece on a coffee table
- Journal
- Guest Book
- Photo Album
- Notes Keeper
- Food Journal
- Family Heirloom to pass down
And so much more!
QL How long does each journal take you to make?
A: Well, it really depends on the complexity. My biggest journal took me well over 100 hours to complete. The smaller journals maybe take 40-50 hours each. I finish a journal in about a week and a half on average.
Q: Do you have a YouTube channel?
A: Not yet. Thinking about it? What do YOU think about it?
Q: Do you have any tips for a new junk journal artist just starting out?
A: Tons! But the best advice I can give is only buy the resources that you need - and don't go crazy. Trust me, your studio / desk will fill up quickly. Be specific about what you want and acquire those things only. Otherwise, you'll be rolling in a stash you don't even use! Also...invest in GOOD glue. Art Glitter Glue. Fabri-Tac. They are not cheap, but good adhesives rarely are.
Q: Do you take requests? How much are they?
A: I sure do! I charge 1$ per page with a maximum of 100 pages per order! (Five Signatures.) Message me.
Q: I want to buy a journal. How do I do that?
A: I accept CashApp, PayPal, Venmo, and cash locally. Please don't mail me cash. The post office can be rough with letters, and I don't want it lost! I will charge an extra $10.00 for long distance shipping. I ship via Ground with USPS. Free tracking and insurance!
Q: The last question that's been mentioned by Amy Beth Campbell, Gia Evitah Hartman, both who have featured me on their channel and reels, is why don't I charge more?
A: Art is my therapy. My mental health has improved exponentially since I started this journey three years ago, and I found that I get way more out of making these journals than I could ever charge for them. I genuinely enjoy this, and because I get so much enjoyment out of them, I charge less. I realize it's time consuming work, but I love it. This isn't a job for me. It's just a small side hustle because I can't keep making journals with nowhere to put or share them!
