Melrose began in 1976 with one clothing store in McAllen, Texas. This single store specialized in fashion for "Juniors", but grew over the years into a chain that included a Plus size department as well as a Contemporary Misses department for the modern working or family woman. Now, over forty years later, we have over one hundred stores throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California

. We will continue to grow with brand new stores opening this year to bring great styles at great savings to more cities and towns across the country. This successful growth stems from a simple concept: of offering our customers quality fashion styles at the lowest prices. In recent years Melrose has added departments for men and kids fashions. Recently, electronics, home goods and an expanded cosmetics departments have been added making it a destination store for the family and home. The growing number of Melrose Family Fashions stores makes us a great one stop shop for quality affordable fashions for family and home.

We've been recounting our history in the build up to a big announcement: we have a new webstore! As a brand, we’ve had to continually evolve to meet our customer’s needs and expectations. If you've been following this series of "Did you know?" posts, you likely already know that My Melrose is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, but its such a huge milestone, we think it's worth mentioning again 😁. At this point we've provided clothing for generations of women and over the past 20 years or so we've been helping those same women clothe their families in affordable style! We were born in the Rio Grande Valley, matured and move to San Antonio then spread our wings across the Southwest United States. Our ambitions haven't stopped there either... We are about to enter an exciting new era and show off something new that we know you are going to appreciate. Stay tuned!

Inflation has been a massive challenge for every American since the pandemic disrupted normal life. In 2024, My Melrose launched our Value Shop program aimed at addressing affordability for families by slashing prices of nine basic cothing staples by as much as 40%. Later, the program was expanded to our extended size department. My Melrose has always been focused on offering families affordable, fashionable clothing, shoes and accessories and our Value Shop is just the latest development to fulfill that mission.
