I recently discovered empty prescription bottles are great for disposing of used machine needles. I keep one my my sewing machine and one by my long arm machine. What’s your favorite way to dispose of dull needles?

“I could never do that!”

Sound familiar? I’ve always had a knack for choosing quilting projects that I didn’t realize were beyond my skill level, so I dig in and learn something new. I’ve also always been in awe of people who create “pictures” with fabric. You know - the ones where you know they didn’t use a pattern that someone created for them. This year, I had the opportunity to take a class called “The Big Picture” taught by Carol Morrissey from OCarol Designs by Carol Morrissey. I wasn’t sure I could do it, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to try! Bonus - I got to spend a few days with a fabulous group of quilters and made new friends.

Sooooo, when I was asked to make quilt squares depicting the San Antonio Riverwalk, I decided to give it a go, putting my new skills to the test.

Remember the old saying - never say “never!” Next stop - learning to dye my own fabric.
