Today's is Theresa Hill, a dedicated VA Volunteer at the Dallas VA.
Theresa's commitment to serving Veterans is a testament to her enduring dedication and the profound impact of her family's legacy of service. She has volunteered in a variety of roles throughout her 25-year tenure, including Chemotherapy, Poly-Trauma, ICU, and CLC. Her contributions extend beyond direct patient care. She runs the Hat Program and Holiday Gift Shop on campus, ensuring inpatient and residential Veterans can purchase and send gifts to their families at a greatly reduced or no cost. These initiatives bring joy and comfort to Veterans during challenging times.
Theresa's connection to the VA and the military community is deeply personal. "My whole family is littered with Veterans," she shares. "Starting with my father, a WWII Veteran, all the way to my grandchildren who are active-duty military right now! We have 4 generations of military in the family and 5 generations volunteering and serving Veterans in the VA hospital. It's a family affair, you could say!" Theresa serves as the Veteran Affairs & Rehabilitation (VA&R) Representative for the American Legion Auxiliary for Dallas and Fort Worth, further extending her impact.
Her dedication is a testament to the power of service and the enduring legacy of military families. "I do this because of my family," Theresa says. Through her tireless efforts, Theresa honors her family's heritage while making a tangible difference in the lives of Veterans.
