Your clothing label is required to tell you two useful things: what the fabric is made of, and what country it was made in. What it can't tell you is scope. Three questions close that gap.
1. What is the fiber content?
Ours is 92% organic cotton, 8% spandex.
2. What exactly is certified?
GOTS is a voluntary, third-party certification standard that covers organic-fiber textile processing, approved chemical inputs, environmental requirements, and human-rights and social criteria. We source cotton documented as GOTS-certified. That describes the certified input, and does not by itself claim that every downstream production stage is certified.
3. Where was it made?
A country on a label does not say which steps happened there. Ours: Made in Los Angeles, USA, where our fabric is knit and our garments are cut, sewn, and dyed.
And what that does not prove: a place of manufacture describes place. It is not evidence about wages, working conditions, or environmental performance on its own.
