This picture was taken in Downtown Los Angeles in 2009 by Andy Salamone as I prepared for the photoshoot with Muscletech in Canada. My brother Tamer did my diet and when I got there my agent Adele knew we had accomplished the goal of a significant before and after. Two months later we were featured on Xenadrine Ads on Men’s Fitness and Men’s Health all over the world. Before starting any preparation you must have a significant emotional experience which is so strong that reminds you the effort is well worth it. I wanted to make it to the magazines because back then it was the pinnacle for fitness guys like us. NPC IFBB Pro League President Jim Manion has created a platform for all fitness men to compete as Mens Physique and continue their journey on stage.

Existe um carinho especial com relação aos eventos no Brasil, não só por sermos brasileiros mas também por uma história trágica onde muitos grandes atletas foram ignorados ou prejudicados pelo sistema anterior. A responsabilidade de que isso nunca mais aconteça está sempre em minha mente. As vezes até penso o que seria de todos nós se tivéssemos chegado 10 ou 15 anos atrás no auge de outras grandes estrelas. Mas vamos tentar honrar o passado e fortalecer o presente para que o fisiculturismo seja algo renomado no Brasil e que jovens entrem nos palcos com um sonho real de ser Mr Olympia.

I met Shawn in 2009 at the NPC Nationals after he turned Pro at the North Americans. He would come by to the shows in Culver City and support the amateur competitors. We were friends and I am very sad he has left us.
