PART 2

Ultimately, writing is like cooking. It’s a creative process that uses the same ingredients a lot of people use but it creates radically different things. It’s all in your lens; how you see the world is reflected in how you use your ingredients when creating something.

There is beauty in that and also a lot of learning weaved in it. Your writing reflects back at you the person you are and the lenses you use to see the world through. The goal of an anthropologist, or an observer in general, is to be unbiased but that might be an aspirational goal that will never be realistic.

We see life as how we understand it and our limitation sit in intersectionality es that may be unique to you. What we can do is push through our comfort and seek to see where we might have blind spots and address them.

Live a life you will remember, make a friend wherever you go, lend a hand to those in need, learn from others, listen to what’s not being said and share you love with those around you.

Today I had the pleasure to visit the Biblioteca Rongo Rongo in Hanga Roa, Rapa Nui. The kids were enjoying readings and singing and art. It was Ana amazing celebration and it reminds me of how special reading is for children.

May your shelves be full of amazing books and your hearts full of love. ✌️

Coquimbo 💛

I came to Chile to meet people…
and I’m leaving with something much bigger.

I had the opportunity to sit down with two incredible people who trusted me, shared my vision, and generously opened doors I could not have opened on my own.

Through them, I was invited to meet Diaguita leaders from the region — and what I experienced there was something I will carry with me for a long time.

I met artisans in practice.
I witnessed the graduation of a certification program in pottery.
I saw knowledge being passed, not just taught.
I felt community, pride, and continuity.
But more than anything, I met people.
Incredible people.
People I hope to continue learning from, working with, and building alongside.

I traveled here to connect
and I leave with a promise:
To create something together for the children of the Coquimbo region.

I feel deeply grateful — and honestly, a little overwhelmed — to be surrounded by so much talent, generosity, and life.
This is just the beginning.

Thanks to my who traveled with me and help me with my kids while I was in meetings and presenting. It truly takes a village and I know you are part of mine.

I officially invite you to come and be part of this amazing conference. I’ll be presenting my research: CTRL + Z: Zines, Digital Activism, and the Archaeology of
Ephemeral Resistance.

The Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) has long been a scholarly space for multi-modal, experimental, innovative, and activist-oriented archaeological thinking. TAG 2026, with the theme , will take place on Lenape-hoking, the unceded lands of the Lenni Lenape in New York City, bringing together archaeologists and interdisciplinary thinkers to reflect upon historical and contemporary strategies for resistance to oppressive socio-political formations.

Over three days, participants will engage with the material realities of struggle, exploring forms of solidarity past and present. Drawing from archaeology and related fields, the plenary and ensuing sessions will move beyond well-trodden analyses of domination and resistance to instead shine a light on the forces that cause(d) harm and the ways people and communities bear witness, manifest care, and engage in refusal. Such work engenders spaces for conceptual advances in the field, highlighting the complex relationships between things, humans, landscapes, soil, and non-human species.

TAG builds community across generations of scholars, and prioritizes student participation through calls for student sessions, papers, reduced registration and housing, and lunches focused on career development. The conference reaches out beyond academia to engage with artists, archivists, cultural resource managers (CRM), and museum professionals.

This trip has been a research trip in all the sense of the word. From to to now . My research is coming along, I’m meeting new people, starting new projects and writing those papers.

I’m living little Fran’s dreams and college Fran’s hopes. What can I say? I’m blessed.
