Respect has always been at the heart of Native homes, and it begins with honoring those who came before us. Elders carry stories, lessons, and wisdom shaped by generations of living close to the land and each other.
When they stand, it’s more than a gesture — it is a presence deserving of acknowledgment and gratitude. Rising for them is a sign that we understand the value of their footsteps and the journey they walked so we could stand stronger.
Carrying these teachings forward keeps traditions alive and reminds us that respect is not a rule, but a way of living that shapes community

This beautiful sculpture was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. They were grateful because in 1847 the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine. The Choctaw themselves were living in hardship and poverty, having recently endured the Trail of Tears.
And that is a lesson in how to be a person in this world.

No One Is Illegal on Stolen Land.

Half the face is human,
half the face is bone,
in the middle is a line

that has never closed.

Old feathers tell stories of the wind,
tell stories of ancestors
who have gone through hunting seasons,
seasons whose names have been forgotten.

The earth does not lie,
only humans label,
who is "legitimate,"
who is "outsider."

When bones still remember flesh,
when the earth still remembers feet,
then no one is a stranger
in the place where they were born.

The black lettering is like an oath:
No one is illegal —
because history does not belong to those who come after,
but to what has never disappeared.

Samuel Pack Elliott (born August 9, 1944) is an American actor. He is the recipient of several accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a National Board of Review Award.
He has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmy Awards. Elliott was cast in the musical drama A Star Is Born (2018), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the corresponding prizes at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards. He also won a National Board of Review Award. Elliott starred as Shea Brennan in the American drama miniseries 1883 (2021–2022), for which he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie.
Elliott is known for his distinctive lanky physique, full mustache, and deep, sonorous voice.
