If you love to knit or crochet this is the group for you... Don't know how to do either that's fine too. We will teach you. You can be advanced or a beginner to be part of this group... I am just bringing a group of people that want to do something amazing for those in need. Scarves can be made or donated as well. My name is Alicia Orozco. I have always loved the idea of helping others, and now af

ter years of schooling I am a preschool teacher at Head Start. Now that I find myself with more time I am starting collaboration with the help of Santa Barbara community that want to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters on the streets. Over the last few years I have noticed that our winters are getting colder and colder. I often wondered if there was something I can do to help those who were cold but had nothing to keep them warm. After much thought, I came up with the idea of making scarfs. I finally have the opportunity to fulfill this dream of mine of helping those in need especially in the winter to come. My ultimate goal is to involve the youth of SB to be involved as well but that is hopefully going to be in the works. Donations of materials like looms, crocheting hooks, knitting needles, yarn or already made or bought scarves always welcome.

Update: well the hand out went okay. Passed out about 14 items. What was most surprising thing is that some people said no. But for those who said they were very happy about it. Glad we can help those people stay a little warmer at night. I'll be keeping a bag in my car just in case I see some who needs it.
Now for the remaining items we have they will be donated to Transition House. I'll be taking those by next Thursday. Need to make more men beanies too :). Can't wait. After that we have a whole 11 months to make/collect for the following year
