What's up Flight 88 crew??!?!!??! Been a while since our last post, so we figured it was time to reach out. Lots of good disc golf in the New Mexico area so far this summer. Shout out to the Flight 88 team!!! Ben Douglass having a great summer so far. First he repeated as the Summer Surrender champ in advanced, and then he took second this past weekend at the Summer Slam at Sipapu!!! Let's not forget about team open play Tyler Wadsworth, he's having a hot summer too!! He took fifth place in the Summer Surrender this year and after a rough first day at Sipa, he came back to take a top 10 finish at the Summer Slam. We know you guys have been asking for fresh gear, and don't you worry guys and gals it is on the way. Keep tossing everyone and Flight 88 will see you at Four Corners and NM States coming up soon!!!!

Wow! What a crazy weekend of disc golf at the Rio Pueblo Open presented by Elite Brothers Disc Golf. Competitors had to play through some of the most dramatic weather we have ever seen at a disc golf tournament. Coming into the tournament, competitors knew the weather was not going to be perfect and on Saturday morning when an overcast sky was all that was present, we hoped the clouds would hold off. It didn't!!! A little more than half way through the first round New Mexico graced us with the first precipitation of the weekend: SNOW! The snow continued the remainder of the round making footing, grip and staying warm difficult.

After a much needed lunch brake to warm up, change clothes, and stock up on some dry towels, players moved to Two Gray Hairs for the second round. The round started much like the first round at Picuris did: overcast, not too cold, and no moisture! Despite the hopes of the players, the fair weather did not last. We experienced Sun(not much), wind, rain, sleet, and snow. Golfers had only one word to describe the scene, and that word was "miserable."

One of our favorite courses here at Flight 88 is Sipapu! This is where the third and final round was held on Sunday. The sun was out and players were hoping it would stay that way. IT DID!!! It ended up being a beautiful day on a beautiful mountain course.

Team 88 fielded 3 players for this tournament!

Tyler Wadsworth- pro division
Tyler played great golf this weekend. He was on the top card for the second and third round, putting himself in a great position to compete for the win! He was playing with some of the best golfers in New Mexico and proved that he belongs on the list of best golfer in NM. Tyler did not have the round he wanted on Sunday and dropped a couple of strokes. He finished 7th for the tournament.

Ben Douglass- advanced division
Ben also played great golf this weekend. He almost brought home flight 88s first win as a team tying for first place but losing in extra holes. So close Ben! He finished 2nd for the tournament.

Scott Malloch- intermediate division
Scott had an up and down weekend. He had his best round at Two Gray Hairs putting himself in contention but did not shoot the way he wanted third round at Sipapu. Scott finished middle of the pack at 11th.

We also want to wish Nolan Tsingine good luck in his journey to the Maple Hill Open. Flight 88 donated half of the money made from gear sales this weekend to help with some of his expenses for the trip. Kick some butt Nolan and show them want New Mexico disc golf is all about!!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Here in Santa Fe we had a new course open up on Saturday! A good friend of ours put a lot of hard work and time in to getting a course put up on the campus of IAIA(Institute of American Indian Arts.) It is a beautiful course and plays great! If you are in town to play some disc definitely check it out. It is a private membership course which is worth every dollar. Thanks Flahive and everyone that help bring this course to life!
Flight 88 team member Tyler Wadsworth has the course record at -10!!! Get a membership and try and beat his score!

Santos killing it this past weekend!!!

This weekend flight 88 took flight for the first time ever at Pendaires village open disc golf tournament in New Mexico! This was an A tier event that brought golfers from all over the country to one of the most beautiful courses on the tour. Flight 88 was happy to make their first appearance as a team on such a big stage! Team 88 fielded 3 golfers in three divisions!

Tyler Wadsworth: pro division
Tyler did not have the weekend he wanted but over came an injury sustained during the second round to shoot his best round the final day. Tyler finished 34th

Ben Douglass: advanced division
Ben put himself behind after the first day but worked his way back to a 9th place finish for the weekend.

Santos Atencio: junior/ rec division
Santos was the youngest player this past weekend at Pendaires. There were no other junior players so Santos played in the rec division. We are vary proud of Santos for putting together 3 solid rounds this weekend on a big stage!!! Not only did he play but caddied for Paul Ulibarri who won the men's pro open division!

Also special thanks to Curtis for caddying for Santos and Ben this event! Kid is a trooper!

All three of these player will be playing next at the Rio Pueblo Open presented by Elite Brothers Disc Golf on May 16th-17th. Wish them good luck as they take flight!
