Boca Grande Pass is one of Florida’s most legendary waterways. A deep natural inlet separating Gasparilla Island from Cayo Costa and connecting Charlotte Harbor to the Gulf of Mexico. Known worldwide as the “Tarpon Capital of the World,” the pass draws anglers from across the globe each spring and summer when massive tarpon migrate through its powerful currents.

But Boca Grande Pass is more than a fishing destination. Its rich estuarine ecosystem serves as a vital nursery for countless marine species, including snook, redfish, sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, and migratory birds. The surrounding waters of Charlotte Harbor represent one of Florida’s most productive and ecologically important estuaries.

Historically, Boca Grande played a significant role in Florida’s phosphate shipping industry during the late 1800s and early 1900s, helping fuel the growth of Southwest Florida. Today, the pass remains a place where history, conservation, and world-class fishing come together.

Few places capture the spirit of Old Florida quite like Boca Grande Pass—wild, beautiful, and deeply connected to Florida’s coastal heritage.

Not much compares to a good sitting tree. 🌳

Don’t give away where yours is if you have one… protect it at all costs.

Just thinking about all the ones we used to have on Englewood Beach or the end of Stump Pass. Or the big canopy oaks down Manasota Beach Rd.

I think I need to go looking for a new sitting tree where I can watch the world pass by. 🍃

Tonight’s sunset painted the sky in colors no developer could ever create. Wild Florida’s beauty isn’t something we can rebuild once it’s gone. Let’s be good stewards of the places, wildlife, and natural landscapes that make Florida home. 🌅
