Powda, CEO of Angelic Records, (born Angela Perez), is one of the most talented Latina artists in the hip hop music industry. Her angelic voice and beauty along with her hard hitting lyrics make her an intriguing artist. It's an understatement to say she stands out above the rest. Her new album is like nothing her fans have heard before. She is definitely flexin' her diversity skills creating a unique masterpiece with her gift. "This is a more mature sound and I'm so proud of what it's become." This female rap phenomenon was born on the sandy streets of Galveston, Texas. Powda had an early love for music as a child and began taking piano lessons at only age 4. It quickly became apparent she had a special gift for music. She started singing in church, joined every school choir possible, participated in vocal and piano competitions, and performed in school plays. "Music and theatre were always my main interests in school." At age 16 she hooked up with fellow Galveston based rap artists who were heating up the latin rap scene. "I met Pancho V from SaltyWater Records and he saw something in me from the moment he heard me sing." They began recording together and Powda soon signed to the label. They immediately enjoyed a number of hit songs on the radio. As Powda and the SaltyWater name grew in the Houston area they began touring Texas and everyone took notice of their amazing stage presence. "We did so many shows and made the greatest fans". Powda featured on Lifestyl's albums "Mobbstylfiggaz", "Street Supply", and the collaboration album "Latin Legacy". Later on to try and further her career Powda left SaltyWater Records and signed with Houston based DopeHouse Records. This label is owned by the most talented Latin rapper to ever bless the Latin rap game, South Park Mexican. "It was such a blessing to sign with DopeHouse. SPM is a legend". Powda began recording her solo album "Angeldust". SPM and label mate Baby Bash just signed with major recording label Universal Records, so her future looked promising. It was, until the devastating conviction and incarceration of SPM. "I would've never imagined something this unjust could happen to such an amazing and blessed person." After SPM's incarceration DopeHouse was unable to release "Angeldust" and to this day the tracks have never been heard. During her time with DopeHouse, Powda featured on SPM's albums; "Reveille Park", When Devils Strike", "The Last Chair Violinist", and "Dope City". She also featured on Baby Bash's album with Universal Records, "The Smokin' Nephew" , which was certified Gold. In 2008 Powda started Angelic Records and released the mix-tape "Flow". "I wanted to do music my way for once and didn't want to sign to another independent label. The only option was to do it on my own." However, due to unfortunate circumstances Powda was unable to release her solo album. "The timing just wasn't right. I decided to take a break and focus on other areas of my life." Now timing couldn't be more perfect and Powda is ready to release her long awaited solo album. She is currently working with artists from Salty Water and Dope House Records again. "We're all like family so our chemistry in the studio is undeniable." Powda will be releasing her solo album in 2014, touring, and releasing her new clothing line. "I think girls are going to love rockin' this logo. It's sexy and sweet, good and bad, all at the same time. Just like me."
