People see the beautiful runway.
People see the glamorous outfits, the stunning models, the photographers, the applause, the videos, and the celebration.
But what many don't see is what happens behind the curtain.
They don't see the sleepless nights.
They don't see the countless meetings.
They don't see the sacrifices made with family and personal time.
They don't see the tears, the stress, the headaches, the disappointments, the challenges, and the moments when giving up seems easier than moving forward.
They don't see the months of planning, coordinating, fundraising, problem solving, and praying.
What people witness on show day is only the final chapter of a story that took an entire village to write.
"Success is built in private before it is celebrated in public."
"The harvest is visible, but the planting is often unseen."
Africa Fashion Week Seattle is more than a fashion show. It is a labor of love. It is a movement. It is a platform that celebrates culture, empowers communities, creates opportunities, and supports humanitarian work beyond the runway.
Every year, we pour our hearts into this vision because we believe in something greater than ourselves. We believe in unity. We believe in representation. We believe in culture. We believe in humanity.
