Nessabutterfly Creations I'm a former cosplayer who took the plunge and entered design school. My first line, including medically adaptive clothing, will debut fall 2018

I'm a cosplayer, costume maker, and clothing and accessory designer. I had to put everything on hold a few years ago due to severe health issues, but I'm getting back into cosplay and will be having a grand re-opening of my business this fall.

I just realized that I never posted these photos of our Luminata autumn equinox lantern parade costumes. We also wore them again on Halloween with better makeup.

Stasi picked the theme and I made our floral wreaths with purchased antlers. The lanterns were fun to make. Our capes were supposed to be more detailed, but time didn't allow for it.

My last two days working on my ballgown. It was a race against the clock, but it's done now. I was exhausted by the end and have been sleeping 10-12 hour nights the last 3 days since I finished.
Photos of the completed gown won't be available until July when I've had my presentation, but you can expect plenty of them then.

I haven't added pictures here in about a week. Here's the finished beading on my skirt, the border, with subtle beading, and my underskirt.
I have to be finished by midnight tomorrow (Thursday). Lots of work still to do.

Today I added another motif to the train. Because apparently I enjoy pain. It did need to though--it looked unbalanced with all the weight in the center. Of course, now I need to repeat this complex pattern on the other side. Yay.

I seriously love this side design, though. The colours and the patterns within it. The bugle beads make me kind of giddy.
I've also been working on the bodice trim at home in a small hoop. I have three of the spirals finished, though I know it'll get more complex as I go. Still, because it goes under my arms, it needs to stay smooth and flat.

My beading picked up a bit with 9 days left and I finished the motif and one of the large spirals on the left side of the train. Still in the splint, but not really in pain. Just a bit uncomfortable.

My first day with my wrist/thumb acting up, I didn't get much done. But I did get some rest, so that was a blessing. I managed to bead the bottom of this motif in 3 hours. Before the injury, I could have done the whole thing in 3 hours.

I'm getting close to finishing the skirt embroidery, but unfortunately my tendinitis has flared up. It needs a week or two of rest. But I have 11 days to finish or I fail and have to start over with a brand new dress design. I'm trying so hard to not panic right now.

The beading for the skirt is coming along nicely. I'd say I'm somewhere between half and two thirds finished.
I also beaded the components for the back strap tonight. They'll be strung, along with gold pearls, across my back to hold the sleeves up.

I made a video explaining my beading process for my ballgown-- not a tutorial-- just big picture stuff. Want more videos like this? Let me know.

Back to the beading table. The skirt panel is far too larger to fit in the beading frame, so I had to get creative. I pinned it to the frame tapes from the top and rolled up the bottom of the skirt panel on a cardboard tube. When I need to move down, I'll repin the whole thing higher and unroll some of the skirt.
