Sovereign — the boldest piece in the Kupu-kupu collection. A gemstone at the center, formed under immense pressure over millions of years, flanked by lava and pearl. Earth’s most dramatic forces, set by hand in sterling silver.

The lava began in a volcano in Bali — hand-dug by me, cleansed in purified water and coconut oil, dried in the Balinese sun, blessed at a sacred temple the volcano’s own eruption left untouched.

The gemstone came from a family in Jaipur whose knowledge of stones runs generations deep. For them, gemstones are not a business. They are a birthright.

This ring wraps.

It holds the finger the way something meaningful holds you — completely, without effort.

One large lava stone, warm and ancient, pulled by my hands from volcano beds in Bali. Cleansed in purified water and coconut oil. Dried in the Balinese sun. Blessed at a sacred temple where the volcano’s own lava once flowed around and left untouched.

Beside it — a single pearl. From one woman in Thailand whose family has worked the pearl trade for generations.

Two materials. Two journeys. One ring that wraps them together.

These are the hands that made this ring.

Behind them — the volcano where it began.

I dug the lava from its beds myself. Bathed it in purified water and coconut oil. Dried it in the Balinese sun. Then carried it to a sacred temple nearby — a temple so holy that when this volcano erupted, the lava flowed around it and left it untouched.

There the stone was blessed.

From Bali it traveled to Jaipur, India, where a stone cutter whose family has worked gemstones for generations cut it into a teardrop. Then it was set by hand alongside gemstone and pearl.

This is Alchemy of Grace.

One lava teardrop. One gemstone. One pearl. One of a kind. Never to be repeated.

This is Kupu-kupu. The Indonesian word for butterfly. Named for a life spent transforming.
