Did you know there are jellyfish in Lake Michigan?🪼

The freshwater jellyfish, also known as the Peach Blossom Jellyfish (Craspedacusta sowerbii), is native to China's Yangtze River and likely arrived in North America on imported aquatic plants. These tiny jellyfish are usually no bigger than a penny or quarter and occasionally appear in the Great Lakes and inland lakes during late summer. Despite having stinging cells to catch tiny prey, they're harmless to people because they're simply too small to sting us.

This beautiful wet-felted jellyfish is just one of the many unique creations from our Artist of the Month.
