This is a weird one to post…
Mostly because I wish I could wrap this up with some profound lesson about how I learned to love my body exactly as it is…but that wouldn’t really be true.
What IS true is that this summer forced me to rethink a lot of s**t I’ve believed about food, fitness and my body for basically my entire adult life.
I thought eating less was always better. I thought carbs were the enemy. I thought if I wasn’t absolutely wrecked after a workout, I didn’t work hard enough. I thought changing my body meant restricting more, working out harder and generally just…making myself miserable lol.
Turns out, I had a lot of that VERY wrong.
I’m eating more. I’m lifting heavy. I’m doing way less insane cardio. I’m drinking less. I’m giving myself time. And slowly but surely, I’m starting to feel like myself again.
Do I suddenly have perfect body image and love every inch of myself regardless of what I look like? Nope. I’m still working on that one. Maybe I always will be.
But I think I’m finally figuring out that wanting to change something about myself doesn’t mean I have to hate myself in the process.
And that feels like a pretty good place to start. ❤️
