I’m taking preorders for hand dyed goods to help fund the upstart costs of my new studio space (which I sign the lease for this week 🙌🏼)

I’m beyond excited to expand to actual workspace which will help me exponentially when it comes to filling wholesale orders and further growing my business.

So thankful for your support so far! I have the best family and friends 🥰

*Big exciting fun announcement news!*

I’m finally moving into a studio space! I’m beyond excited for this evolution of my business and creative work, and beyond grateful for all the support and enthusiasm from my friends, family, community, and incredible customers that has gotten me to this point. The last year has seen the growth of my wholesale business as well, with TMDCo products on the shelves of 30 stores around the country, which makes studio space more of a need than a desire when it comes to production capabilities.

The space I’ve found to rent needs some work. Any space (especially in my budget) would, and especially since I need to outfit the room with utility sinks and a washing machine. I’ll need a plumber to take care of rerouting the plumbing and installation. I will need to remove old carpeting and seal the concrete, spackle and paint the walls, install shelving, and buy some new burners, pots, and hanging racks. I will be DIYing as much as possible, but renovations are costly, no matter what.

In order to fund this evolution of my business, I’ve created something of a DIY Kickstarter on my website. There are “levels” from $5 to $300 with different collections of hand dyed goods that will be created for you and shipped once I’m up and running (by the end of March.) You can swipe through on this post to see the different level collections available.

Your support means the world to me, and I’m so excited for this next step in my business!

The bandanas are 100% super lovely lightweight cotton and are sewn by the one and only Kat from .stitch.back (my hero!)
As of this posting there are 5 of the 8 one-of-a-kind scarves left!

So this is a pretty big deal for me…I signed up for ! It’s a huge trade show for wholesale and I was accepted into the incubator program for emerging brands in the Home category. I am beyond excited. I honestly never thought I would do a trade show, let alone a massive one like NYNOW. It’s in August, so I have time to prep some new products for it and I’m just over the moon. If you’re a buyer and you’ll be there, please let me know! I would love to meet you!

I love doing markets and in person events. I talk a lot about how my goal is to have an in person shop - I just am so excited about the idea of creating a space that speaks to the joy and energy of my brand.
I spent a few years working retail and eventually managing stores in NYC, and it introduced to me a love of retail spaces and branding and sales. I didn’t think at the time that I would one day have my own shop of some kind, but now I know it’s on the horizon (no immediate plans, but probably about 2 years away from it being possible.)
In the meantime, I love having an online shop, I adore in person markets and pop ups, and I just love selling wholesale to help stock incredible shops with beautiful, hand dyed goods.

✨a note about women owned businesses ✨

I was beyond lucky to work with half a dozen or so women-owned small businesses through high school and college. Instead of more traditional “teenage” jobs, I was somehow able to wrangle some pretty great opportunities with various entrepreneurs.

My first job when I was 16 was for a woman who designed and produced a line of tumbled glass jewelry. My job included making wire jewelry components, cutting glass, soldering jewelry stands, and making the actual jewelry. My next job was as an assistant floral designer at a flower shop. That business was a one woman show as well. I sent her an email asking if she was looking for help. She hadn’t been, but decided to take me on anyway, and it was one of the most fun jobs I ever had. She even let me paint a mural on the side of her building. When I went to college, I had the honor of interning for two amazing women who were designing a line of modest fashion and taught me so much, and more importantly became mentors to me in the fashion industry. As a side gig later on, I worked for a woman who made monogrammed kids accessories, helping her with production. She was the inspiration for this post, actually, because she instilled a deep love of piles in me; seeing your work complete and stacked up neatly is simply the best feeling. 🤗

All these women gave me a chance and taught me skills I still use to this day. They gave me a chance, made space for me, and allowed me opportunities to learn and grow in my work and my knowledge. They took my ideas seriously even when I was just a kid. Most importantly, they shared their process with me. A process is sacred. It’s what sets you apart, gives you a competitive edge, and differentiates your work from others. And I feel all those jobs, all those bosses and mentors and lovely women in my own process every day.

I don’t think 16 year old me expected this is where I’d be almost 20 (😱) years later, but I sure do use a lot of skills that 16 year old me took the time to learn in my own work. Feels a bit like coming full circle, and I was just thinking about that. I’m pretty grateful.

My color mood changes seasonally, sometimes alongside trends, sometimes not. I have to admit, lime green has got my eye right now. Growing up my bedroom was like green and purple so it feels like such a throwback for me.
What color is calling your name at the moment?
