Opalina stone (also known as Peruvian Opal) is a natural, vibrant blue-to-greenish-blue stone found only in the Andes mountains of Peru. It is highly prized by jewelers and collectors for its soothing, opaque colors and unique mineral patterns.

Unlike man-made "opalite" (which is typically a type of synthetic, iridescent glass), natural Opalina is an entirely natural gemstone. It is a rare, opalized blend of Chrysocolla and Chalcedony.
Appearance: Features earthy-yet-vibrant color gradients of robin's egg blue, sea green, and deep teal, with natural veining from the host rock.
Origin: Exclusively mined in the Andes region of Peru.

Opalina is heavily associated with tranquility and the Heart Chakra.
Purpose: Believed to release tension, reduce daily stress, and promote calm, clear communication.
Usage: Often cut into smooth, polished cabochons (flat-backed stones) for meditation, as well as set into sterling silver pendants

If you are considering working with or buying Opalina, it requires careful handling.
Durability: The stone is naturally porous and somewhat soft, making it challenging to cut and tumble without first stabilizing the stone.
Cost: Because of its scarcity, polished loose stones can range in price. Smaller or lower-grade rough lots can start around $10 to $35, while high-quality finished pieces and large cabochons can range from $50 to $180+
