SLU National Student Speech Language Hearing Association

SLU National Student Speech Language Hearing Association "NSSLHA is the national organization for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication.

NSSLHA is the only official national student association recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). NSSLHA membership is available to any part- or full-time, graduate or undergraduate student interested in the study of communication disorders. NSSLHA has approximately 13,000 members and there are 313 recognized NSSLHA chapters (all CAA-Accreditied programs have a NSSLHA

chapter). NSSLHA chapters are located primarily in the United States but there are chapters in Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Greece, Israel, and Saudi Arabia" NSSHLA page.

Yesterday, a few students as well as Dr. Rose took a trip to the capitol of Missouri for MSHA Legislative Day. We had a chance to hear from an SLP that is running for senator and had the opportunity to discuss our thoughts on certain bills with the senator of the Saint Louis area. It was an amazing experience that allowed us to meet new people and advocate for our future profession. Here are some highlights of our trip!!

Last night, we were grateful to host a wonderful community event centered around people who stutter. The evening included activities such as friendship bracelet making, coloring, and basketball, creating a welcoming space to connect and build meaningful relationships. It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen community and promote awareness and understanding of stuttering. We hope everyone enjoyed their time, and we sincerely appreciate the incredible turnout and support.
