Can you believe this charming prom dress was an $8 thrift store find! Hem shortened, back brought in, modesty panel added and a couple of tears in the tulle skirt fixed along with a good steam make this like new again.

No more hemming solo, with Starla, BLC has a buddy to help AT ALL TIMES. Also, Napoleon Dynamite is an absolute favorite of mine. When I bought this machine I went with it because after researching various brands i felt this was the best one for me. When it arrived and I saw the REX on there I knew I had to name her Starla 🤣

Highly recommend JC Campbell School of Folk Art! Had such a great weekend and will heading home soon. Monday I’m back to work. In the mean time I have my first skein of yarn! Most importantly, I am comfortable and able to trouble shoot my wheel 💕

I’m heading out tomorrow with my own nerdy self to take a spinning class this weekend at the JC Campbell School of Folk Art in Brasstown NC. The yarn weasel (far right) is going to the Bobbin Boy in Asheville for repairs. Fun fact the nursery rhyme Pop Goes the Weasel is not in reference to the animal. It’s in reference to yarn weasels bc after it completes a full rotation it pops a clapper stick inside and by counting the “pops” you can calculate the amount of yardage your yarn is.

A common question I get asked is “can this be fixed?” It depends, in the majority of cases a garment can be saved. Sometimes, like in this case, it’s not a quick and simple repair. The pocket needed to be removed, a patch created theb stitched and finally the pocket sewn back on.
