Who would have thought an overturned truck could spark a little hope?
In our community, where devastation and destruction are everywhere you look, it’s the small things that keep us going.
It’s winter, and it’s cold—bitterly cold. People are still without homes, sleeping in tents, cars, or whatever shelter they can find. Christmas is less than a week away, and for many, hope feels like a luxury we can’t afford.
But there are still good people in this world—people who haven’t forgotten about us. They’re traveling here to help clear debris, repair homes, serve meals, and provide clothes, toys, and anything else they feel moved to give. It’s incredible. If it weren’t for the people—the helpers—I don’t know where we’d be.
So, this, my friends, is what hope looks like for me and many others in Swannanoa and across WNC as we face the aftermath of Hurricane Helene this holiday season.
This weekend, I’m doing my part by hosting a Winter Festival (swipe ➡️ for details). It’s coming together last minute, but I’m determined to make it fantastic. I don’t have volunteers or all the resources I need yet, but I have hope—and that’s enough to know it’ll all come together.
Here’s to hope, community, and the holidays. ❤️🎄✨
