“Some days I am a Goddess.
Some days I am a Wild Child.
And some days
I am a fragile mess.
Most days I am a bit of all three.
But every day, I am here, trying.” - s c lourie

Whimsigoth is a warm weather collection of colors I’ve been dreaming about for some time.
This is a special collection not only for knitters but for spinners!
I’ll be sharing these new colors in the next couple days. You can get a sneak peak of them now on my website 💫

As soon as I saw this bonnet I had to make it !
Thanks to for the push!

Just the day before, I made a new type of hand spun yarn using a technique called hawser.
Hawser takes 4 singles and plies each single together for 2 two plies. All in z twist, so super kinky. And then you ply the 2 plies for a four ply with S twist. I had to put a lot of tension on the two ply yarns because of that extra whorl but it was worth it.

I get so motivated by my spinning siren group to try new yarn experiments. If you want to join our group, tour de fleece is right around the corner. Also, why isn’t there a spinning wheel emoji??

Yarn: cape May fiber super bulky sparkle in natural cream, seeing stone and coral w**d along with my hand spun
Pattern: hot dish bonnet by .handknits

Not that long ago I had someone comment, when a fellow indie knitwear designer left the industry to work in an interior design capacity (for which they were originally schooled in), had gotten a real job.
UMMMMM
Where do you think sweater ideas come from? Oh. Those hours upon hours of making colorwork charts, excel spreadsheets full of measurements and math, with the final product being a bunch of words on paper in which a knitter could actually duplicate the design you dreamed up AND it fits them well with all the extra little tidbits on how to make perfect bind offs and short rows- because videos make themselves, too?

I always feel like an acrobat when I’m designing - the design should be something beautiful, wearable but also fun to knit. Design + engineering + art

So excuse you, Knitwear design is a real job! 🤣 and yes, I did go to school for it, have a BFA in it, and spent decades in this industry.
And this is why you don’t let others define you
