Blue Study No. 01 N-1 Reconstruction
One-of-One 1940s USN N-1 Deck Coat — Hand-Dyed Indigo Boro / Sashiko Reconstruction
Price $1850+usps
A singular reconstruction of an authentic 1940s US Navy N-1 deck coat, reimagined through traditional textile practices and slow, deliberate repair.
The original garment was fully deconstructed and rebuilt by hand. Layers of vintage cotton and muslin were naturally dyed in indigo, then applied using boro patchwork techniques. Every surface was reinforced and textured through dense hand-stitched sashiko, creating a living fabric that carries both structure and history.
The exterior reveals years of wear—real and reconstructed—while the interior has been replaced with a custom patchwork lining, balancing durability with softness and movement.
No two areas are identical. Each panel holds its own rhythm, wear pattern, and repair story.
This is not reproduction.
This is continuation.
