I am a fashion historian and writer; my work focuses on apparel/costume history from between 1800 CE and today. My research is focused on the stories behind names, houses, and brands, with an emphasis on people who have been left out of history (which unfortunately happens a lot to people of color, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women.) All of my work is focused on the stories behind the names, houses, brands
, and trends that affect what people wear and why they wear it. Since 2018, I have run my popular blog, Today’s Inspiration, which tells the stories of the history of apparel, through bios of the people who have affected that industry. Drawing more than 50,000 loyal, individual readers every day; my ever-growing audience includes some of the biggest names in Fashion, Haute Couture, Fashion Journalism, and the academic end of Fashion History. My work has been featured in Women’s Wear Daily, the New York Times, 1stDibs, Italian Harper’s Bazaar, The Seattle Times, The National News, Vintage Woman magazine, and more. In 2020 she began the Instagram Live series Couture Kibbitz with vintage fashion pioneer Cameron Silver. I am the Head Fashion Historian at Little Red Fashion Company, the world’s first-ever fashion education start-up for kids and young adults, which I helped found. I am the head of the Fashion History Department at Fashion Constellate, and I do research, writing, and consulting work for people, companies, and brands that have needs related accurate historic costuming and apparel information. I am a formally trained designer, and in my spare time (lol) I recreate 19th century apparel from scratch, from corsets and petticoats to ball gowns and costume jewelry.
