It’s been a tough year. In January I lost my mom and 2 weeks later my father. They were my world and I was devastated. Still somewhat. But today is my birthday. Tomorrow is my mothers 80th and to celebrate in her honor my daughter and I got matching tattoos. Growing up in a Puerto Rican Christian house my mom always had an old fashioned opinion of females with tattoos. It’s just how she was raised in the 40’s. But me being sort of a rebel, I got 2 at the age of 23. I never showed her until one day she just so happened to see one. Her jaw dropped and she had a slight look of disappointment at first. But she never criticized me. She looked at me with an open mind and was accepting of my choice. Years later she herself confessed she wanted to get a coqui frog on her ankle. I was SHOCKED. 😂 Unfortunately moms health deteriorated and she never got it done. I wish I could have made that happen for her. I think her whole life she lived by the rules and obedience to her parents that her inner rebellion wanted to be expressed even if at an old age. My hopes are that she is in heaven getting tatted by an angel…a sunset and 3 waves symbolizing herself, me and my daughter as we were all Cancers, a water sign. We were inseparable.
