📚 HELP US PUT MORE BOOKS INTO THE HANDS OF LOCAL KIDS THIS HALLOWEEN SEASON! 🎃📖

I’m collecting children’s book donations between now and Halloween—and I’d love your help!

I’m looking for books for readers of all ages, from board books and picture books to middle grade and young adult. New or gently loved books are welcome, as long as they’re clean and in fairly good condition.

Every book donated will be given away FREE to local children. 🎃❤️

Books will be distributed on Halloween night to neighborhood children, as well as at our vendor events during the week or so leading up to Halloween. My goal is simple: put as many books as possible into the hands of kids who might not otherwise have one to call their own.

And here’s the why behind it:

As an editor and avid book lover, sharing books and the stories they carry is something I’m deeply passionate about. It’s not only something I’ve made my career—it’s something I genuinely love.

For the last few years, I’ve had the joy of giving away hundreds of free books to neighborhood children on Halloween night. It has become a tradition that means so much to me, and I’d love to continue it while reaching even more kids through our vendor events in the weeks leading up to Halloween.

This year, I’m inviting our community to help me reach more children than ever before. 💕

If you have children’s books sitting on a shelf that could use a new reader, please consider donating them. And if you don’t have books to donate, sharing this post helps, too!

Let’s fill little hands with books, little hearts with stories, and Halloween with a little extra magic. 🦋📚🎃

Donation details:
📖 Board books through YA
📖 New or gently loved
📖 Clean and in good, giftable condition
📖 Donations accepted now through Halloween
📖 You can bring donations to any event on our calendar or message us for additional options
📖 100% of donated books will be given away FREE to local children

Thank you for helping me share something I believe in so deeply: every child deserves the chance to discover a story they love. ❤️

I’ve been working through some vintage ephemera sources and have these 1941 ads local to the Bedford area! In a world of digital graphic design tools and AI ad generators, how unique is it to see these words and visuals carefully written by hand, offering a little glimpse into the former small businesses of our community? I think the unique lettering and slight imperfections give them such a charming human touch and personality ✒️
I also love that the original owner of my house was of the Kinney family of Temperance, the former house of Dr Keane is across the street from mine, and Farnham Funeral Home is just down the street and where my family chose to have funeral services from the 1960s until they closed. Does anyone of the Bedford baby boomer generation remember these businesses or have any unique connections? Please share with me! 🙂
