While the dirt was what led me into even talking about “Steady Soul”, the song itself was written from a deeper place of the various trials I’ve lived through and challenges I’ve faced or were thrust upon me. It’s a brighter outlook to the shelter I’ve found in God and how “coffee” represents the Brewed GRIT message in life, yet creatively framed as a nostalgic homage to the comforting and loving childhood I grew up in at home with my parents who are also great pastors.

Being bold isn’t easy.

Being bold can be all kinds of actions on a wide scale.

It can look like inviting the loner to a gathering.

It can look like standing up for the awkward person who somehow made the center topic of discussion in a gossip group.

It can look like saying the unpopular truth on social media with grace and class.

It can look like walking alongside the newly single mom during her unknown season of desperation.

It can look like showing up and being your genuine self in the midst of a facade of elitist mentality.

It can look like a lot of things, but encourages you to BE BOLD like a strong cup of coffee!!

Has it been a year for you? Years are funny…They technically start in January and end in December, but most of the time because of school, seasons, and summer…it runs from Fall to Spring. 😂

It’s been a year for me. Gave birth in September, had a freshman who transitioned mid-year to distance-schooling at home, an 8 year old going on 14 🤣, weird things, and a business that is growing so much it’s really time for a coffee shop. It has been a blessing of a year full of joy!! But sure has been a year.

How has your year been and how does being in summer feel? Do you have to be intentional about not being overloaded?

Without God, we either never make it to the point in life we need in order to begin the forming of our identity in Him, or we get burned out and have no flavor left. So, the next time you are feeling a bit "roasted,” allow God to take charge, guide you in the process, and think of how good coffee beans smell after being well-roasted to their intended flavor!
