Well, it happened - I flew too close to the sun and got burned. Two delightful pairs of cosy, super easy socks finished and I think I can just jump right back into dental floss knitting with colorwork like it’s no big deal. I have one way too big toe, and one way too tiny half sock with terrible tension. Both will have to be ripped out (despite having restarted each toe no less than three times). I feel like I need a magnifying glass to see what I’m doing. I’ve had to explain to my kids that I have to keep starting over because I’m knitting with vibes, not vision, and the vibes aren’t great (but neither is my vision 🤪). Should I use a pattern? Probably. Will I? Of course not, because that requires paying attention. Should I at least map out a design. 100% yes. Will I do that? Still no. I’ll probably frog these both and stuff the yarn back into my stash for another few years while I forget, again, how hard knitting with tiny needles and thread is, especially with no plan in place. Wish me whatever the opposite of being stubborn is 🫣.

Look at these funky socks! I am in love with making these thick, cozy socks! I would never have thought sock knitting would end up on my to-do list because I am notoriously in the “Single Sock Club,” but these work up so easily and use all those gorgeous impulse sock skeins we have stashed away. They’re made with fi*****ng weight yarn held double (this was a mishmash of minis) on US 3 needles worked in 2x2 rib with a short row heel. So easy peasy 🙌.

This was going to be a fun little progress reel, but alas, my phone is constantly full and all off the end of the year activities have had me frantically deleting things I haven’t had the chance to back up. Oh well, we’ll call this an homage to original Instagram 😅😅.

One of the first indie dyers I ever purchased from, Three Ninety Eight Fiber arts (who is unfortunately now out of the dyeing business), came out with this gorgeous summer fade set. I’ve been holding onto this set for probably five years waiting for it to tell me what it wants to be, and these fade socks are it! I just free-styled the pattern, and totally messed up the fade and had to start all over, but I’m so pleased with how they turned out.

And just a little side excitement share: every year for four years now, I plant perennials around the house. Usually by mid-summer everything is dead, and I call it a learning experience because I assume I don’t plant things in the correct lighting environment. However, last year, I planted these dahlias. They did okay, not great, and I absolutely was not expecting them to come back. But they did!! And they seem to be flourishing! I finally got one right 🤣🤣🤣.

Hi friends! It’s been a long time since I’ve made a post of my own. I took most of last year off of social media (minus a test knit or so). Social media and content creation began to feel extremely inauthentic, and that’s just not me. I realized that when something no longer serves you, you have to let it go. The idea of feeling the pressure to have to share every time I picked up my needles made it almost impossible for me to do so. I had lost the spark. I decided I needed something new to learn and explore. That something new is still in the fiber arts realm - it crochet! Finding a new craft has really invigorated me to pick back up and start knitting. However, it will likely be projects for myself for now, and we’ll see where it goes. Will my patterns still be available? Only on Ravelry! If, for some reason you hate Ravelry, shoot me some other options besides Etsy. I won’t be going back there for now. Will I still be selling my knits? This one’s a big maybe. Definitely not on Etsy, but maybe somewhere, one day. Lord knows I have way too much yarn not to offload it some way 🤣🤣.

But for now, maybe we can all enjoy my progress on the .and.pine.designs Hearthside Cardigan I just started. I’m using Classic Sock yarn by in myriad of colors.

Confidence level in my skills and ability to do the pattern? A firm 79% (most of that being thanks to a brioche class I took at DFW fiber fest taught by , which I highly recommend).

Confidence in my ability to stick with it and finish? I’m going to give this a hopeful 50% percent 😬😬. I have already invested over 8 hours winding all the yarn balls (close to four of those were spent on a MASSIVE tangle caused by my terrible yarn winding set up). I’ll adjust that number as necessary. If you never see another post about this, you can probably infer that this number went to zero 😅.

For anyone who’s still here, and for all my OG’s, thanks for going along on this journey with me, I appreciate your support immensely 🤗🤗

Super Bowl, Olympics, Wanded Wholehearted Hat pattern release - what a weekend!!

This hat was so much fun to knit! It’s a DK weight knit, but somehow knits up super quickly 🙌. It’s knit in fair isle style, so there are very few floats to catch overall. It’s an easy, rhythmic pattern, and the chart is fairly easy to memorize.
Not a fan of DK? That’s okay! Jenny has included a table at the end to adjust the pattern for various yarn weights.

All of Wanded patterns (bundles included) are 15% off with purchases of 3 or more in one transaction.
There is a SUBSCRIBER ONLY discount for this release; the code will go out with the release email. Want to get in on the discounts? Make sure to sign up for Wanded’s emails!

This is a crochet beanie pattern written for Super Bulky or doubled up worsted weight, and adult sized. This pattern is pretty beginner friendly - she includes a photo and video tutorial of how to do the special stitch! This is an especially great pattern for those fun, colorful hand dyded hanks!!

It has been a hot minute since my last post 😳. In all honesty, I really needed a break from making content. The idea of having to make posts made me not want to pick up my needles. I actually can’t remember the last time I picked up my knitting needles. So, to reignite my passion for fiber art, I have been crocheting (and not posting about it 😉). However, I saw a test call for this awesome looking beanie, by Jen and couldn’t resist! So, here’s a little sneak peek at this awesome new pattern, and maybe some new things to come 🫶.

The newest pattern by Jenny is available NOW!!! This is the Jesper Bandana Cowl and it makes the coolest texture! This pattern uses several, new to me, techniques, including Japanese short rows, and the Ruke bind off. But fret not, as Jenny’s patterns always come with tons of helpful instructions and video tutorials.

If you’re looking for a discount, all of her patterns (bundles included) are always 15% off with the purchase of 3 or more in one transaction. OR there is a SUBSCRIBER ONLY discount for this release. It isn’t available to those who aren’t subscribed to her email newsletter. For this release, you can even get her two other Jesper patterns for 15% off without having to purchase 3. Offer ends on May 31st, and is valid only on her website. (Patterns can be added to Ravelry).

Nothing better than working on a beautiful knit on a cloudy day. This pattern is the upcoming by Jenny .

I wasn’t 100% sold on this green when my stash offered it up for this project (in my house, the yarn chooses the project, and I just follow its instructions) but it is knitting up SO beautifully! The texture of the stitch pattern just sings. I can’t wait to finish and try it on 🙌.
