Confession: I’m slightly terrified of this dresser. It has a presence. It’s sturdy enough to survive a minor apocalypse and has better posture than I do.

Built when "durable" meant "can sustain a direct hit from a meteor," this beast of a dresser is a masterclass in mid-century (and perhaps ancient Egyptian?) engineering. Come try to move it and see for yourself. (Please don’t try to move it; it's very heavy).

Looking at this stack of steamer trunks and thinking about the person in that portrait… and realizing their packing list was probably just: "Uniform (x2), toothbrush, portrait of myself to worry my family, and this entire, heavy wooden trunk."

These trunks contain stories. Long voyages. Military history. And probably a few very dusty sweaters. Come find a piece of travel history to turn into a unique coffee table or just ponder who exactly decided that carried leather handles on a massive oak box was a good design.
