When my 97 year old grandfather passed away in March, my family and I stepped away from our vintage business for a couple of months to spend much needed time with family. 💕
We have picked back up and are once again brining amazing vintage finds to our friends on Whatnot! 💛
Recently, I was enjoying a quiet evening sitting in my grandfather’s favorite spot under the trees in his yard, watching the sun set. 🌅
Golden hour is my favorite time of day and my favorite place to watch the sun go down is in my grandfather’s yard. 🌳
He was of Spanish and Mexican descent and absolutely loved working in his yard. It was part of who he was. His mother was an amazing gardener and she passed her green thumb on to her son.
Until the age of 96, my grandfather mowed two acres and tended to the trees, shrubs and decorative garden.
He took so much pride in his work and his yard was always so peaceful.
Over the years he had acquired a fun and eclectic mixture of whimsical, primitive and kitschy yard decorations.
Please enjoy this collection of photos I took while enjoying the sun set in his yard a couple of weeks ago.
As I was capturing these images, I was reminded of this beautiful, but somber poem…. ⭐️🌅⭐️
“Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”
~Poem by Robert Frost
R.I.P to my Grandfather! I hope I honor the legacy he left behind in a way that would make him proud. 🖤
