Beadwork, painting, drawing, sewing, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, you name it, I've probably tried it. For the most part I just dabbled a little bit here a little bit there, building up a great supply of crafting materials. However, I never spent much time on any given area because I mean, how many scarves can you make for yourself, right? I just started dance class as a way to make friends
and keep fit at the same time, but as I became better, I joined a troupe in which we had to start making matching costumes. I'd sewed plenty of halloween costumes and a couple of special occasion items, but nothing that had to be functional or had to last longer than one evening! But after making my first costume I was hooked. I love the processes of starting with a few yards of fabric, some beads, a bra and turning it into something spectacular. I thought to myself (and my husband), 'I'd love to make costumes as a career," but just knew it would very difficult to build a customer base, so I moved on...until I found Etsy. Seeing how much of a demand for homemade items there is on Etsy has given me the courage to set forth and make my dream a reality. Since that day, I've spent a great many, many hours building up my sewing skills while creating some gorgeous dance costumes that can stand up to the beatings I put them through (lugging them around in a bag, quickly changing in and out of them and the many hours of dancing in them). Always trying to better myself, and the quality of my work, I am continuing to take sewing classes. And now, I am finally ready to bring to you my creations. As for what I shall be bringing to you? I have an eclectic taste in clothes and accessories. I love burlesque, goth and victorian styles. I take inspiration from pirates, flappers and tribal belly dancers. I adore sparkles, feathers and lace. And I'm partial to black, jewel tones and occasionally pink. These are the things that I love and the things that I make. I will never make or post anything on here that I would not love to keep for myself. (In fact, anything that I make more that one of, you can bet that I've made one for myself!) To that affect, I promise that everything I make will be of the highest quality, with attention to detail and made with love...as the day I stop loving it is the day that I stop doing it! Here's hoping to see you around often,
Mystic
