June is National PTSD Awareness Month.

Some injuries are visible. Others stay hidden behind the uniform.

Firefighters, first responders, military personnel, and countless others carry the weight of traumatic experiences long after the call is over. PTSD is real. It’s not weakness. It’s not failure. And you’re not alone.

As firefighters, we’re trained to run toward danger. But asking for help may be one of the bravest things you’ll ever do.

This month, let’s break the stigma, check on our people, and remind those who are struggling that support is available.

Because protecting those who protect others means protecting mental health too.

“Didn’t you just finalize these?”

Yep.

And then I found something I wanted to improve.

That’s the downside of being obsessive.

The upside is we never stop making the product better.

Most companies look for a point where they can stop improving.

We’re still looking for ways to make a sock better at 2 a.m.

Not sorry.

For decades, the sock industry has been obsessed with colors, patterns, and marketing.

We were obsessed with the engineering and what was actually touching your skin.

That’s why we’re expanding the Armadillo Woolery lineup with Merino Wool Ankle Socks and Mid-Weight Hikers.

No PFAS.
No flame retardants.
No unnecessary chemical treatments.

Just high-performance Merino wool built for people who work, train, hike, hunt, run, and live hard.

The same philosophy that drove us to challenge the firefighter uniform industry is now driving every product we make:

If a chemical doesn’t need to be there, why is it there?

Coming soon.

PFAS-Free. FR-Free. Built for Extreme Duty.

When we changed sock manufacturers, we don’t just hope for the best.

We test.

Every claim we make about performance, safety, and quality should be backed by data—not 50’s era tobbaco industry marketing tactics.

That’s why we partnered with Forever Analytical to conduct PFAS testing on our socks, station wear and other products. The results help ensure that what we’re putting on firefighters’ and customers feet aligns with our mission: reducing unnecessary chemical exposure without sacrificing performance.

A huge thank you to Forever Analytical for providing the hard data to back up our smack talk on our competition.

Because in an industry full of claims, data wins.

Imagine being pregnant and showing up for a 24-hour shift wearing pants intentionally treated with PFAS (DWR water repellent finish)

Not turnout gear.

Not a hazmat suit.

Maternity pants.

The same “forever chemicals” being removed from products across the country are still finding their way into uniforms worn by firefighters and EMS professionals.

For stain resistance.

For water resistance.

For convenience.

Somewhere along the way, the industry decided protecting fabric was more important than asking what those chemicals might mean for the people wearing them.

At Armadillo Woolery, we believe the people inside the uniform matter more than the uniform itself.

That’s why we’re challenging the idea that performance requires PFAS, flame retardants, or synthetic chemical treatments.

Because if it’s not safe enough for a pregnant firefighter, maybe it shouldn’t be in the uniform at all.

PFAS-Free. Bullsh*t-Free.

The apparel industry spent decades engineering chemicals into clothing.

Now they’re spending millions explaining why those chemicals shouldn’t worry you.

Firefighters wear uniforms for 24-hour shifts.

Not 24 minutes.

The question isn’t why we’re building PFAS-Free, FR-Free alternatives.

The question is why nobody built them sooner.
