NOW YOU KNOW | Style Edition
Has anyone ever said, “You look tired.”
And you’re thinking… Well, I wasn’t until you said that. 🫣
Or maybe you’ve gotten the dreaded, “Are you feeling okay?” when you actually feel perfectly fine.
Believe it or not, sometimes it has absolutely nothing to do with how tired you are — and everything to do with what’s happening "around" your face.
Wearing a color that doesn’t work well with your natural coloring can emphasize shadows, redness and unevenness in your skin. The right colors can do just the opposite — brighten your complexion, bring attention to your eyes and make you look more refreshed.
And as we get older, our coloring naturally changes a little. Our brows and lashes may become lighter, our hair color changes, and our skin may not have quite the same contrast it once did.
So here are a few simple tricks I often share with women during color and style appointments:
• Wear one of your best colors close to your face. This one can make a HUGE difference.
• If your brows have gotten lighter or thinner, filling them in just a bit can bring definition back to your face. Just be careful not to go too dark.
• If you wear glasses, don't be afraid of a little color or definition in your frames. Your glasses are an accessory sitting right there on your face!
• A little lip color can add life back to your complexion. It doesn't have to be bright — just choose a shade that works with your coloring.
• Add color with earrings, a necklace or a scarf. This is an easy way to bring one of your best colors near your face without changing your whole outfit.
• And whatever your hair color — gray included — a current, flattering cut can make such a difference.
None of these are rules, and you certainly don't have to do ALL of them.
They're just little things I've seen make a surprisingly big difference — especially when someone tells me, “I just don't feel like I look like myself anymore.”
Sometimes the answer isn’t changing how you look.
It’s choosing colors that bring out the best in the what’s already there. ❤️
