I’ve always identified as a connector.
Not because I set out to become one, but because it’s simply who I am. I genuinely enjoy people; learning their stories, understanding what they’re building, and figuring out how I can support them. Sometimes that support looks like sharing a resource, offering insight, or making an introduction that helps someone move forward.
And the more I grow, the more I realize just how naturally this shows up in every part of my life.
A few years ago, I flew from D.C. to the Bay Area to moderate a panel at LinkedIn Headquarters for the What Next? initiative — a program created to support juniors, seniors, and recent graduates as they prepare for life after college. A genius idea started by Racquel Lee brought together innovative brilliant minds representing global tech companies.
When I looked back at those photos recently, I had to pause.
Several professionals on that stage was someone I knew from my own network people I’d built relationships with over time. Even the curator of the What Next? experience is someone I personally know and deeply respect.
Seeing those pictures again reminded me of something I’ve always believed:
Relationships are powerful. Connections matter.
The rooms you enter, the opportunities you receive, the impact you’re able to make; they’re all tied to the people you intentionally build with.
I don’t take it lightly that my network continues to be a source of opportunity not just for me, but for others. That’s the part I love most: helping people win, together.
Here’s to the power of connection, the beauty of community, and the doors that open when you simply stay in relationship.
