When your CD player won’t work and you just want to listen to John Anderson all day…🤠🎵

Could you make a pencil from scratch? ✏️🤔

That’s what the Tuttle Twins books help teach kids - how something we use every day is made and what it takes to make it. Conversations like that are great for kids to start having and understanding how the world works. One of the many reasons I love these books for my kids.

This carton has months of work behind it.

When we started designing the packaging for Miss Kay's , we were told to hire an agency. We interviewed more than 10 and received quotes around $85,000-$100,000.

That was a tough number to justify for us, a brand new company. So Granny, my two other partners, and I rolled up our sleeves and worked through it ourselves.

I had no idea how much went into getting one carton right.

Months of revisions. Label claim reviews. Color testing. Decisions that looked great on a screen and needed another round once we saw them in print.

We wanted the packaging to feel familiar; the red gingham, the cream background, and Granny’s name right up front. Something that felt at home in the kitchen of the woman who inspired it.

“Feeding Families Since 1958” means something to us. It’s a piece of her life we get to carry into this business.

Seeing it all come together makes me proud of our team. We saved money, but we also learned things about building a consumer brand that will help us with every decision that comes next.

I understand those agency quotes a little better now. I also know we’re more capable than we realized.

Sometimes building something means taking on work you’ve never done before, asking a lot of questions, and staying with it through one more revision.

Im so glad we did. 🙏🏻

One of my favorite parts of being a dad… reading books with my kids📚❤️

These moments are a great reminder that the stories we read together can lead to some pretty good conversations. That’s why I’m thoughtful about the books we bring home, and why I love reading Tuttle Twins with my kids.

If you’re looking for books your family can enjoy together and grow into, take a look at TuttleTwins.com. I’ve learned a thing or two along the way myself.
