I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to see our oldest musician friend Jason Mraz last Sunday in Syracuse. It was such a great show!!!
Gregory Page was the opening act. He sang some selections from 'One Hell of a Memory'. Jason and Chaska Potter, from the band Raining Jane, joined him for a few tunes ("The Promise", "Green Lights and Blue Skies", which are my favorite GP songs from his album, and they also played "Place in the Choir", which was super fun). I really enjoyed his whole set.
Then the techs came out and changed everything, and the lights in The Landmark Theater came on when Jason took the stage. He then proceeded to strum for 90 minutes.
If you're an older Mraz listener like me, you might have been a little happy. There was some "Randy McNally" and "Details in the Fabric"and. He, as usual, was very funny with the banter in between songs. He played a few older jams, as well as the obligatory new ones. But "Unfold" was the best. And, in usual Mraz fashion, my favorite song was full of oohs and ahhs and falalas. I cried a lot, sang a lot, and maybe lost my voice a little bit. But it reminded me of the old days so much. This was a much-needed break from daily programming for me, and I am super grateful to have such great friends. Thank you for showing up, and until next time…
