I’ve officially retired my (7 sets of) black leggings and oversized black sweatshirts emo uniform and have reemerged a Spring butterfly.
An opportunity presented itself that I get to wake up at 6AM or so (7, if I hit snooze for an hour) for every day for the next couple of weeks.
I’ve gone from working in isolation surrounded by clothes who don’t answer me (so… I’ve had no choice other than to answer myself back) to showing up and reporting to a completely different environment… surrounded by laughter, shrieking, YouTube videos of Movement dancing at like, 830 in the morning, whining, smiles, pouts, thumps from those who run down hallways, even though they’ve been told to stop, but they just bounce right back up and take off again like nothing happened, drawings, doodles, and, hugs. Getting hugs from people half of my height that I’ve never met in my life throughout the day is my favorite part.
Anywhoo, I’m back. A year ago this time—I never thought that I would be typing any of this, because going to bed excited these days, used to be mornings waking up in tears in fear of the unknown.
Those of you who have known me forever, or a newfound friendship formed over common bonds that no one speaks of… have continuously told me that there would be a light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m finally starting to believe it.
I hope that this fresh new wave sticks around for a loooooong time. I’m pinching myself, and noticing things around me—and actually paying attention to song lyrics again that are often signs that I’ve missed, forgotten, or have ignored to my own detriment. But, as cheesy as this sounds… good things come to an end, but thank god…bad ones eventually fade away too.
So. With all of that being said—Lowry is still around. Amelia is almost like ten feet tall now, and she has beautiful things that she’s been cranking out all winter that she plans to share with the world when she’s ready this spring.
