When I was in college, a close friend wrote a thesis on success. His definition always stuck with me - the ability to wear basketball shorts every day of your life. I always thought that was hilarious.

I spent most of my 20s in basketball shorts. Not as a statement, just how I lived - coaching, playing, being around the game. Length has always been a nuanced indicator of attitude and style.

I’ve seen the full spectrum - the long, baggy Y2K fits, then the super short 2020 AAU era. The pendulum always swings.

Now it’s coming back — Y2K, AND1 Mixtape, mid-’90s Fab Five, post-Jordan Bulls era shorts. Iverson. Ray Allen at UConn.

If you were there, you remember the details - even the dumb ones. I used to hoop in no-show socks with ankle braces just to look like Iverson.

We call these shorts Shaolin, after the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. That influence is real.

Growing up, my room was covered in cutouts - Slam, The Source, Thrasher, Rolling Stone. Basketball, skate, hip-hop. Basketball shorts have always had that kind of quiet signaling. They’ve always been part of the brand - it’s authentic, it’s something I understand.

So we’re leaning into it. Back to that early college window - rec centers, pickup, living in basketball shorts.
