Knitting Central

Knitting Central Knitting Central constantly searches for unique and soft to the touch yarns, the best tools and techniques, and wonderful fashion forward designs.

Knitting Central was a dream of Cynthia's that became a reality in 2004 as a bricks and mortar store in Westport, CT. Over the years a complimentary online business was established. The store was sold in 2010 and the online knitting store became Cynthia's main focus. She continues to share her passion for finding unique yarns that are soft to the touch along with the finest tools, great techniques, and wonderful fashion forward designs.

We don't know any other book that takes you from start to finish in your design process as Shirley Paden's book, "Knitwear Design Workshop". Enjoy this short video of the work that went in to this book and all the places she has gone to share her knowledge. We were lucky enough to be one of the first on her tour, just at the time Knitting Central was passing the torch to Westport Yarns. Enjoy- http://youtu.be/C-UE4EJKXJ8

Was so inspired by Jill Draper Makes Stuff's booth this weekend that I came home, grabbed some of her Windham and started this baby, top down sweater. The stitches work up so nicely - crisp and consistent. I am really enjoying working with this yarn.

Had some extra Kelbourne Woolens, Road to China yarn after I finished the sweater. Made a hat to match the sweater. He LOVES the sweater! Said it is so soft and warm, all he needs is a T-shirt, sweater and a jacket and he is super warm, even in the Montana cold. I love the feel of this yarn in my hands. http://www.knittingcentral.com/collections/the-fiber-co/products/roadtochina

To create a crisp, perfectly shaped Blackberry Stitch, I position the yarn for the K3 part of the stitch (move yarn to back) before I lift the needle off, completing the P3tog. The result is a nice, consistently shaped berry.
Full pattern will be in my new "Baby Blanket" design...
