Fiber Art by Carola

Fiber Art by Carola Fiber Art by Carola is my soulful, creative journey where fashion, memory, & ancestral traditions meet.

My work honors the slow process of textile-making practiced on Daniel Hill & East Wilson, rooted in the black-sandy soil of Contentnea Creek Homeland. Fiber Art by Carola is the design and retail branch of Stitching Culture. It is the brand and online store where artist Carola Jones offers one-of-a-kind medicine cloth pieces of hand-dyed, stitched, and embellished wearable and home goods. Inspired

by Indigenous Eastern Woodlands and Gullah Geechee traditions, the Collections are sold online three times a year: Fall New Moons, Spring Greening Up, and Indigenous Fashion Week. Each creation is a meditation on place, ancestry, and transformation, blending indigo, madder, and natural dyes with hand embroidery, quilting, and beadwork. Fiber Art by Carola celebrates sustainable, small-batch making where every textile tells a story of reclamation and reverence for the land.

My annual Valentine's Healing Hearts Online Sale runs from February 1 to March 15. The brand is built on generational knowledge passed down by Doris Jones, Minnie Haskins, Harriett Woodard, Mammy, Fama (Ann), Mattie Randolph, Mary Burnette, and Grand Mere. They taught me about regenerative fibers, natural dyes, and sustainable Indigenous and Geechee Gullah textile practices. Today, I continue their legacy through medicine cloth, wearable art, and community-centered workshops.

Count Down to the New Moon opening of Fiber Art by Carola SHOP. Upscaling a jeans jacket with the middle schoolers. One of my UFOS as a pillow top. It had a green border which I removed. It’s beautiful cardinals outside my windows, who sing to me. I call them my hope birds because when I feel overwhelmed, they appear and fear flies off me when they fly away. Found patch, so I gave him yellow feathers in the background. Planning ribbon in fire colors below. Deleting most of the white.

Stitching Culture Shop opens on the New Moon in November and closes on the New Moon in December. When the Shop closes, I'll be making Gullah Geechee Birthing Quilts for my old clothes and family textiles.

The New Moon is coming, and with it, the opening of the Stitching Culture Shop on November 20. This is a sacred cycle of new beginnings, intention, and creative transformation.
