Token progress shot in the new colorway! These colors are so soothing. I'm loving the gentle back and forth of the new design.
It's taken me a bit to get back to this after initial warping and sleighing. It's just that time of year! Taking a more simple design approach on this one for some variation. Sometimes yarn quantity is taken into account during design, and the floofy textures of the previous designs would take up too much of this gorgeous handspun, which contains a more reserved yardage.
I've also taken some time to work on a new newsletter, and blog round up. It's been awhile, and I am riding that work flow! Those will be out by June 1st!
Reflecting how I am lucky to have this Memorial Day to enjoy in this way, and *just simply be*.

Moving along! I couldn't wait, so I warped the new color series last night. This one turned out more purple than expected (I guess I'm not sure what I expected! Maybe more blue leaning?) But it's very pretty! I have to finalize some things with my sewing expert, Robin of to make sure my plan will work for these, and that my hopes can become reality. As sunny days approach, I'm excited to start working on the next phase to "finish" these! Will share more on that soon! It's been hard holding back what my hopes for these are, but I want to make sure it's do-able! (Don't worry, I have a plan B thru Z otherwise!)

How I'm finishing Mother's Day. (After endless afterthought hemstitching). No case of the Monday's here, there's a new warp going on!
No added music - this is weaver's ASMR !

My NH Sheep and Wool Fest Haul. There were SO many great vendors to pull inspiration from. And while I actually showed a lot more restraint than expected, despite a pretty unlimited budget (happy mothers day to me!) I left with so much more!
New persepective and Fresh Ideas!
I highly recommend if you are usually a vendor, to just sit one out here and there, and "play tourist".

While I did take pictures of vendors I'd like to revisit fir future projects, this year is mostly going to be a "maker" year for me. I don't plan on returning to shows until this fall. Meaning I will miss Maine Fiber Frolic (Don't worry, Im still volunteering here and there with the Maine Spinners Registry if you'd like a visit!)

Using what I have accumukated to make all the ideas that have been swimming in my head for years, in between moves and home renos. Yarn that has been sitting in my stash. Stuff I havent had time to play with, or got set aside whenever another show would come along. It's easy to get sucked into default mode with offering just the same predictable stuff that sells, and time for creativity suffers.
This year, we also will have the rest of our house renovated, and setting aside the DIY, which means my energy can go toward my own things (despite knowing I'll have the house torn apart, it is such a relief to just play director and not all the roles of a house reno! Contractors are a godsend)

I am glad to have the privilege to be able to take the time to do this and just MAKE! It's something I've wanted to do for a very long time, but always fell into the trap of going to shows because it's expected of me. In retrospect, I think missing Fiber Marketplace due to sickness (April was ROUGH!) actually sort of launched me into finally taking the leap to do this. So this is your PSA that taking a step back is ok to do, and possibly even necessary as a creator!

This is a short and sweet textural micro moment.
Every bit has been delightful, but even in weaving for texture, some spots just catch the eye.
As this bit of locked loveliness turned down along the apron, it became particularly pronounced.
It won't be seen again until after this colorway is off the loom, so enjoy this little glimmer now!
(Not to worry, it will be one of many, and it keeps me going!)
That is all!

A hobby I've slept on for over 10 years, is finally coming together! While this isn't even directly business related, this is such a win for me, that I wanted to share. These waxed hoover hives "Santa" delivered way back on Christmas are so beautiful and smell so good! We bought 2 hives to start in case of a swarm, but for now, just assembling this one.
Some back story. Over 10 years ago, about a year before sheep even, I bought hives, bees, the works for a screaming deal. Deals like that don't come around every day so despite being broke at the time, I jumped on it. As with most things, I was so excited to get going.
Around that same time, I ended up finding out I was pregant with our 3rd, and my sister who lived with us at the time, needed a science project idea. Long story short, those dreams ultimately ended up becoming another's muse along with the equipment and bees. Thankfully, now, I finally get to circle back and share this with my own boys as I had originally hoped to do!
Bees will be coming home in a few weeks and we're more than ready! The boys have already named our queen 😂. Expect to see a little here and there on this throughout the summer and gardening season!

Quick teaser for the new warp, and the last project off the loom hanging in the background. Share more on this soon! A whole week of rain in the forcast calls for a week of weaving!

Even though I missed the fiber markeplace, I can still feel close to my fiber peeps through yarn. I still have one sick kid at home as of today, but personally am feeling better. It feels there is an end to it sight!
