As a kindred jewelry designer, I was truly compelled in every way to experience the current exhibit for Douriean Fletcher at the Walters Art Museum entitled " Jewelry of the Afrofuture". This exhibit spoke to my soul in every way! It was a healing salve to my inner child, a remembrance of ancestors, honoring my black womanhood, and how we have always adorned ourselves with beauty and protection. Thank you, Douriean Fletcher, for sharing your vision with us. Our Afrofuture is so bright !!!! If you haven’t seen it yet, you have until August 9 to check it out.

✅ One more procedure completed along the path to getting on the kidney transfer list!

😊 Jahweh wanted to share that her parathyroid surgery went well yesterday, she is just recovering.

🤢 At first keeping down the medication caused some discomfort with her body initially rejecting it as her calcium is rebalancing from the removal of 3/4 of her parathyroid, but today she is feeling much better. She'll be in the hospital for another couple days.

📋 Dental clearance is next and then getting on the donor list is getting closer.

💸 She can still use the financial support so please do whatever you can or simply share this post so that others who are able can support her.

Jahweh’s latest update and request for support:

Jahweh is doing well. She had a transplant appointment on Aug 26, 2025 at John Hopkins Hospital where she was able to meet her transplant coordinator. They did a variety of bloodwork to get her ready to be on the list. It was also established that she still has a couple more tests, surgeries, and biopsies to do in order to be considered as a transplant candidate. She already had a biopsy done on a nodule located on her thyroid, but the result was benign, which is good.

She needs to do dental clearance and to have parathyroid surgery on November 18 which will hospitalize her for several days. The parathyroid gland and kidneys are closely linked. Basically, her parathyroid is robbing calcium from her bones/joints which has her in constant pain and susceptible to fractures if she falls. It hurts to walk, go up stairs and she has to be very intentional with her movements. Once those are done, she will potentially be considered for the kidney donor list.
Come spend time with her on November 9th aboard the Kontiki during the 20th Annual Dollar fo’ Dollar Culture & History (Harbor) Tour (Limited space so buy your tickets soon on www.dollarfodollar.org). There will be a donation box on board to help support her and her other payment options are also always available, see them below.

Jahweh’s latest update and request for support:

She still has to do a couple of things to get clarity and clearance for the transplant.

Due to her complex medical history, she has had to see a few different types of doctors.

She has seen a pulmonologist for pulmonary hypertension, a cardiologist for a right heart catheterization, and an endocrinologist for prolactinoma, a small tumor in the brain which has shrunk considerably. She has to do more tests to confirm whether or not pulmonary hypertension is a true issue.

At the end of the day, all these things lead to an appointment with a transplant nephrologist regarding the transplant protocol, which is scheduled for August.

She is grateful for all of the help that has been given so far, but support is still needed as she continues the healing journey on the road to her transplant.

"Good day, everyone. It's an honor for me to be here right now. My name is Jahweh David and I am so grateful to SRMC for all that they have done. Just the mere fact of making in this expansion going to help so many other people. I have been dealing with kidney disease for the past 10 years. Lupus nephritis, and it is challenging, you know, and as a dialysis patient, we deal with so many different things that a lot of people don't know about, and it's very, very heartwrenching some days to even get up and go to do dialysis. You got to this machine for 4 hours, you know. It takes a lot of your time, your life, your energy, but it's a lifesaving procedure, and we would not be here right now if this was not available, so thank you. Thank you for all that you do in order to support our wellbeing, and I'm so glad that other people are going to be able to experience this as well. We need more education. We need more you know just support, period, you know. So, please, you might know somebody that has kidney disease. You back here might know somebody that has kidney disease. We need to prevent them from being you know on dialysis you know, to whatever extent possible, so I really want to give thanks, um and yeah, just makes me a little emotional. Thank you all right so [Applause]"
