Mitten Sisters has a new address, www.maskyourmama.com. We’ve temporarily suspended mitten making during this trying time and have turned to mask making. Available in dozens of patterns, our 5 layer reversible and washable mask comes in three sizes, adult large, adult small and kids and includes a pinchable wire nose and a removable support strap that goes behind the neck.

Mitten Sisters will hopefully be back in the fall, but until then, stay safe, stay well.

Jessie, from , unexpectedly gifted me this sweet little ornament a few weeks ago and of course I couldn’t wait to place it on our tree. Five years ago I started Mitten Sisters without a clue as to how to run a business. But I was lucky. Early on I took an arts business class from Sharon Jeter at and from there I was mentored by Stefani Tadio. Through them I met Hayna, Susan, Denise, Rachael, Jen, Meghan, Betsy, Jessie, and so many more. (If I’ve forgotten someone please forgive me.) Each of these women generously gave advice and differing perspectives on the life of a working artist. I learned from each and count myself so fortunate to have met them. The year is almost at a close, so my wish for you all for 2020 is that the people you meet along your personal journey have the same generosity, the same confirming and confidence inducing spirit that these artists embody. Who knows exactly what the next year will bring, but I’m really excited to start down its path.

So...today is my last Mitten of the day post for 2019 and it’s fitting that these cable knit, 100% wool mittens are green, because although winter has thoroughly taken hold, I promise, spring will come again. True story, I went to college in Duluth, Minnesota, where winters are long and hard. One March, feeling pretty low, I went on a little shopping spree and bought socks, a scarf and a wallet in just these perfect shades of green. It’s been 40 years, but I still remember how the color green cheered me up and got me out of my funk. It’s in that spirit of cheer that I posted these mittens today. So, may your weekend be fine and your burdens be light as we live these last few days of Christmas joy. And it’s not to late to bring a little spring into your life. We welcomed more snow last night, but this morning the sun is shining. Those of us who live in the ROC know that is something like a Christmas miracle. With the sun on my face and mittens on my hands I’m going to brush off the car and head out for lunch.
